What is a heat pump?
Heat pumps are undoubtedly one of the most environmentally friendly and energy-efficient technologies for generating residential heat and hot water.
Their operating principle is based on obtaining around 75 percent of the energy required directly from the environment - be it from the air , the soil or the groundwater . This natural energy source makes them particularly sustainable compared to conventional heating systems, which primarily rely on fossil fuels.
The remaining 25% comes from the power grid (or your solar system) . As an Ostrom customer, you get this electricity from 100% renewable sources , which makes your heat pump almost climate-neutral.
Advantages of a heat pump:
1. Independent: Become independent of rising oil and gas prices thanks to inexhaustible and free environmental energy.
2. Future-proof: Prepare yourself optimally for the future with a heat pump. You already meet the political requirements for modern heating technology and the reduction of CO₂ emissions.
3. Efficient: Heat pumps work extremely efficiently. On average, up to 5 kWh of heat energy can be generated from 1 kWh of electrical energy.
4. Sustainable: Heat pumps obtain around 75 percent of their energy directly from the environment, making them the most sustainable heating option. In combination with a photovoltaic system, the heat pump becomes almost climate-neutral.

Good to know
Vaillant heat pump technology already meets all the requirements of the Building Energy Act (GEG) . In order to achieve the climate targets, the state is currently covering a large part of the costs for a sustainable heat pump.
The state will subsidize up to 70% of the costs of switching to a climate-friendly heat pump. Heat pumps are also eligible for subsidies as part of a hybrid system. It can be assumed that the subsidy will be reduced in the long term. It is therefore advisable to invest in a heat pump now .
In over 70% of all residential buildings in Germany, the efficient use of a future-proof heat pump is possible without complex structural measures , even in older existing properties . A hybrid system is recommended as an alternative.
Our partner: Vaillant
Vaillant stands for long-lasting quality - since 1874! Vaillant heat pumps undergo over 300 tests in the development phase before they go into series production and are installed in your home. To ensure the high quality standards, important components of Vaillant heat pumps are tested in endurance tests of up to 20,000 hours .
Vaillant heat pumps work reliably and efficiently even under extreme conditions. To ensure this, numerous tests simulate all possible weather conditions: temperatures from -25 to +48°C, 100% humidity and salty air, such as that found near the coast.
Vaillant heat pumps are among the quietest on the market . In reduced-power night mode, the Vaillant air/water heat pump aroTHERM plus is as quiet as a whisper at a distance of 3 meters.
Vaillant's product portfolio offers the right heat pump or hybrid system for every need and every house. It doesn't matter whether it's a new build , a modernization , a single-family home or an apartment building .
In addition, Vaillant offers everything from a single source. Photovoltaics, domestic ventilation and connectivity from Vaillant are available as system supplements.

*Funding: Please note that there is no legal entitlement to all funding. For example, the state offers a basic subsidy of 30% for switching to sustainable heating systems. There is also a bonus of 5% for heat pumps with water, wastewater or soil as a heat source, as well as for heat pumps with natural coolants. If you replace an old, functioning heating system (oil, coal, gas floor heating or night storage heating, regardless of age, or gas or biomass heating that is older than 20 years) with a new system, you will receive a climate speed bonus of 20%, provided that the building is no longer heated with fossil fuels. This bonus only applies to owner-occupied residential property. If your annual taxable household income is up to €40,000, you will also receive an income bonus of 30% - this bonus also only applies to owner-occupied residential units. However, state funding is limited to a maximum of 70%.
**Heat bonus: If you use funding programs (e.g. the Federal Funding for Efficient Buildings (BEG)), the use of a bonus, e.g. the heat bonus, can have an impact on the respective funding and must be reported to the funding provider.
